My Gaming Journey + What I’ve Played
Mom’s Phone and Dad Office
Game is one big part of my life.
It’s all started when I play game in mom’s Nokia phone. I remember playing fish shooting game, apparently the name is Space Impact (so it’s not a fish?).
I’m also like playing the snake game and racing game in my dad phone. Still remember playing tetris and parking game too.
On school holiday when I go back to hometown, I play Bounce game in my cousin phone.
I’m also remember when I visit my dad office, my dad introduce me to game in one of it’s office computer, which now I think the name is Raptor.
My mom’s phone upgraded that mean my game is changed too, when playing this game called Water Rapids I’m stuck at level 3 forever, screw you game dev.
PS1 and PS2
When In elementary school (I think 1st grade at elementary school) my parent buy me PS1 and it’s one of memorable moment of my life. I’m often play Winning Eleven / PES with my dad or play multiplayer game with my brother like Metal Slug.
When playing adventure game i can’t understand English properly yet, so there is no adventure game that memorable to me.
Since i’m still a child I don’t remember much about the game that I’ve played. Or I don’t know what the game name anymore.

Few years later my parent bought PS2. I still remember I got three free games: Samurai Warriors 2, Ghost Master (bit forgot for this game, since I don’t like it too much), and the third one that I forgot completely.
Samurai Warrios 2 introduce me to musou genre and it’s become my favorit genre at that time. After that I played Dynasti Warrior 6, Warriors Orochi 2, Sengoku Basara 2, and Devil Kings. All is awesome! It support two player so I can play it with my brother. And it’s quite easy for child me since it’s just move and slash, no complicated story to understand.
Lego Indiana Jones introduce me to Lego puzzle genre that I’m also liked, after that I tried many other Lego games too.
PC and WiFi
Then my dad bought PC for my home. That’s where I found many fun game like Megaman X4, Gamehouse Collection (Hamster Ball, Air Strike 3D, Varmintz Deluxe, etc), Zuma, Road Rash, MotoGP, and the game that will be my most favorite game: Age of Empires 2.
In Junior High School, i’m being introduced to internet. I like going to internet coffee with my friend. That’s where I download game that change trajectory of my life. I download Pokemon game: Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Platinum. Then I play it in my house. Playing Pokemon also introduce me to PoIn, a Indonesia Pokemon community that I feels like a family to me. I try to build my own Pokemon game, apparently that’s where I’m interested to take Informatics (Computer Science) as my major in university.
Few years later my dad install WiFi in my home, that mean no need for me to internet coffee anymore. I like to visit website called clubmoogames.com (the website can’t be found anymore, but i’ll never forget the legend 🙏), it’s a website to download mobile game to play in Symbian at Nokia phone. I download many game to play in my Nokia E63. One of most memorable game that I donwload is Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Crystal.
I still remember when waiting for break fasting (ngabuburit) I like playing MotoGP.
Also me, my brother, and my father often playing Facebook game and flash game at our home computer. After doing Taraweh on Ramadhan then we start open the Flash game.
Also now that I’ve internet in my home, I create my own gaming download site which is Ilham Wahabi GX.
It have good traffic, I’m actively promoting it at Yahoo forum and Facebook, I learn many concept such as HTML, domain, hosting, widget, short link. I often wake up at middle of night just to open laptop and write a blog. Actually I think my mom know about it, since the laptop fan is too loud but she just let me do it ❤️.
Unfortunately I should abandon the blog since I got accepted in one of prestigious Senior High School in my province which is a boarding school, so I don’t have time anymore to maintain it. I don’t regret it though, since now I think pirating is not a right thing to do.

In Senior High School i don’t play much game, since i’m in boarding school now, so I’m busy with other activities and i’m mostly into watching film/anime instead. I still playing Age of Empires 2 sometimes and play Little Fighter 2 to killing time.
University and Mobile Game
Time flies, now I’m already in university. It’s era of smartphone. People mostly playing game in mobile now. My favorite game is LINE Rangers, Shadow Fight 2, and Angry Bird. I DON’T play online multiplayer game like MOBA. I still play Age of Empires 2 sometimes.
I found that playing mobile game is very distracting since it’s very accessible. So later I uninstall my game in my phone so I can focus better on study and work.
Employment and Nintendo Switch Era
Fast forward after university when I’m already have a job. I buy Nintendo Switch with my first fulltime salary. My first game is Monster Hunter Rise (because it’s MHR special edition console). And then I tried other Nintendo Switch game, many good game although the game is bit pricey.
Since now I’m work using Macbook, I’m also buying gaming laptop to be able to play a PC game. Currently I’m still playing Age of Empires 2 and 3. Also then purchasing many old game from my old computer to nostalgia.
I still love playing game but not too enthusiast like when I’m child anymore.
I’m planning to buy Nintendo Switch 2 later, when they release the OLED version.
